Australian XP Media Center Community report:
Empia Technology is displaying two new USB 2.0 video controllers at Computex. The EM2880 and EM2870 provide DTV, hybrid analog and digital TV and radio media solutions on Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. Having begun production of the chips in March, Empia has just gained WHQL and USB-IF logo certification for the chips.

This product launch represents a shift into digital TV for Empia. The company first entered the USB2.0 AV controller market in 2003, with its EM2800 chip. This was followed by the EM2820, EM2840 and EM2860. The first three of these chips have already shipped over 1.5 million units, according to the company. The new EM2870 and 2880 extend the company's feature offering to include DVB-T, DVB-S, ATSC and HD applications.
